Located in the northern region of Malawi in Karonga district, Wovwe Mini-Hydro Power Station was commissioned in 1995 with a total capacity of 4.5MW.
Wovwe Phase II will expand the Wovwe power plant by adding another 4.5MW, doubling the power generation capacity from the current 4.5MW to 9MW.
This expansion project will allow Wovwe to single handedly supply half of the power demand for the entire northern region which currently stands at 20MW.
A full feasibility study for the project has already been completed.
