EGENCO TO BENEFIT FROM GOVERNMENT 50 MEGAWATT SOLAR DEAL WITH GERMANY

Electricity Generation Company (Malawi) Limited, Acting Chief Executive Officer, Engineer Dr. Maxon Chitawo on Thursday 22nd August 2024, joined the state President Lazarus Chakwera in Berlin, Germany for meetings with German investors.

During the meeting, President Lazarus Chakwera signed a memorandum of understanding for the development of a 50-megawatt solar farm in Choma, Mzuzu, aimed at ensuring a reliable power supply to boost productivity in Malawi.

The agreement was finalized at a working dinner with the Rethinking Africa Foundation, a German initiative focused on advancing Africa’s sustainable development.
