EGENCO SPONSORS 2023 NATIONAL ENERGY CONFERENCE
Electricity Generation Company (Malawi) Limited (EGENCO) on Monday 23rd October 2023 presented a K3 million cheque to the Renewable Energy Industries Association of Malawi (REIAMA) as part of its sponsorship towards the 2023 National Energy Conference that will take place in Salima from 26 to 27 October 2023.
Speaking during the ceremony, EGENCO Acting Chief Executive Officer, Dr. Maxon Chitawo, said the Company could not hesitate to support the conference as it will discuss some issues affecting the Company as a major stakeholder and player in the energy sector in the country.
“The theme for the conference, Energy Diversification for Sustainable Development, speaks to the core foundation of our Company.” Said Chitawo as he further highlighted other projects that the Company will be implementing including a 10Megawatt (MW) solar power plant in Salima.
REIMA President, Soustain Chigalu commended EGENCO for the support and their partnership.
“We are grateful to EGENCO for this support – EGENCO is one of the key players in the energy sector and it is the biggest producer of renewable energy in Malawi” Chigalu said.
