OUTAGE OF KAPICHIRA FOR DAM INSPECTION AND MAINTENANCE
Electricity Generation Company (Malawi) Limited (EGENCO) wishes to notify all stakeholders and the public that there will be an outage of Kapichira Power Station on Sunday, 29th September 2024 from 07h00 to 17h00 to carryout inspection and maintenance of dam structures at the intake.
The inspection and maintenance of the dam structures seek to achieve the following objectives: Maintain a favorable flow path to the Intake and Spillway of the power station; Remove sediments in the reservoir to reduce impact on operation and maintenance of the power station; and to maintain operational efficiency.
To reduce the impact of the outage, EGENCO will have all available diesel generators during the outage Kapichira power plant to supplement the available hydro capacity.
EGENCO sincerely regrets any inconvenience that may be caused by the outage of Kapichira Power Station.
