EGENCO HOSTS POWER UTILITIES OF AFRICA WORKSHOP
19 delegates from 12 African countries attended a training workshop that EGENCO hosted in conjunction with the African Network of Centres of Excellence in Electricity (ANCEE) under the Association of Power Utilities of Africa (APUA). The training, which was conducted from 10 to 14 February 2020, was aimed at enhancing electricity sector performance and intensifying regional exchanges.
Speaking at the closing ceremony of the training workshop, EGENCO’s Chief Executive Officer said the company was honored to bring together players in the power sector from different countries to encourage mutual learning and the exchange and sharing of experiences and ideas. “Trainings like these are important in order to enhance and improve the operations of our utilities. Our staff should obtain, improve, and retain skills and knowledge needed to do their jobs competently and efficiently”, Said Liabunya. On his part, Coordinator for the ANCEE, Mitiche Reda El Hadi, said ANCEE had chosen Malawi to host the workshop in order to enhance cooperation with the Southern part of Africa and to increase the ANCEE’s impact of improving utilities in the energy sector.
Established in 2015, the African Network of Centres of Excellence in Electricity (ANCEE) is a continental initiative led by the Association of Power Utilities of Africa (APUA). It is supported by the African Development Fund and the French Development Agency.
